Final Family Portrait Series

Posted on April 22, 2011November 21, 2017 by Ginnefine

Finally, here is the finished series together – since we had the final painting critique today I could get them all together in it’s entirety.

J House Portrait

The concept behind this series is an unconventional family portrait. Rather than render everyone separately or together on one canvas, I took a unique/memorable physical attribute from each member and focused in on it.
I usually stray away from figurative painting for the most part but I think this came out well.

Here’s each piece individually for a closer look.

Widow’s Peak

Left Eye
Right Eye
Nose
Mouth

This was a fun series to do. It definitely helped with layering and building up values to get the skin tone correct, as opposed to my usual one and done.

I have a lot more art that I’ll post soon….but that’s it for this week.
